A Note from Richard
“I don’t just build furniture—I listen to the wood. Every slab has a story shaped by wind, time, and growth. My job is to honor that story with honest hands, thoughtful design, and unwavering care. At Crooked Tree, we don’t chase trends. We build pieces meant to be lived with, passed down, and remembered.”
Sophie Shrader is the visual storyteller who brings Crooked Tree Woodworks to life online. Through photography, video, and behind-the-scenes content, she captures the soul of the craft—showcasing how raw, locally sourced wood transforms into handmade, custom furniture through patience, skill, and collaboration. Her work highlights the human element behind every piece: the spark of an idea, the rhythm of the shop, the final reveal. For Sophie, digital media isn’t just about promotion—it’s about honoring the process and connecting clients to the artisans who build their future heirlooms.
As Shop Manager of Crooked Tree Woodworks, Garrett Parlett blends decades of hands-on experience with a “can-do” mindset that keeps the shop running smoothly. His journey began as a boy learning framing and joinery from his stepfather and step-grandfather—a family tradition that evolved into a lifelong passion for artisan woodworking. Now 35, Garrett oversees every custom build from concept to completion, mastering new tools, solving complex design challenges, and mentoring teammates along the way. When he’s not managing workflows, you’ll find him at the bench, hands covered in sawdust, perfecting the next heirloom-quality piece.
Jorge approaches every project with gratitude, grit, and unwavering dedication—values shaped by his journey and deepened by his role as a provider for his family. At Crooked Tree Woodworks, he brings relentless work ethic, humility, and a teachable spirit to every build. Whether assembling joinery or fine-tuning finishes, Jorge thrives in collaborative environments where loyalty, mutual respect, and precision matter. Outside the shop, he lives those same principles at home, creating meaningful moments with loved ones. For Jorge, craftsmanship isn’t just a job—it’s a way of life rooted in integrity and resilience.
From age 7, Max learned the language of lumber on construction sites alongside his father, framing walls and studying how wood behaves under stress and time. After spending formative years in Texas and returning to Utah, his childhood curiosity grew into a profound appreciation for trees—not just as material, but as living systems with unique patterns, grains, and stories. Today at Crooked Tree Woodworks, Max channels that lifelong reverence into every hand-sanded edge and carefully selected slab, helping craft custom wood furniture that honors both nature and legacy.
